Flip for Function offers therapeutic gymnastics instruction and occupational therapy for children with special needs.

Flip for Function is a community based occupational therapy practice offering therapeutic gymnastics instruction and pediatric occupational therapy in gymnastics clubs, full of exciting and sensory rich activities. Developed in 2018, with a belief that all children should have access to successful, educational, developmentally appropriate athletic opportunities, Flip for Function is designed to attend to the individual sensory and behavioral needs of each child.

Flip for Function students learn by participating in individualized gymnastics or therapy sessions to address muscle development, coordination, self regulation, body awareness, sensory integration and so much more! Our gymnastics based therapy sessions focus on the strengths and unique needs of your child as we work together to improve gross and fine motor skills in an environment full of opportunities for social interaction.

What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?

Pediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on increasing the functional independence of children in all areas of their lives by promoting successful skill acquisition in order to increase functional participation in their daily occupations. Common occupations of childhood are playtime, social skills, self-care and school performance. Services are provided for individuals with sensory processing disorder, delays in development, motor coordination difficulties and visual motor/perceptual deficits that may contribute to problems in motor skills, daily living tasks such as eating, playing, sleeping, dressing, toileting, behavioral and emotional responses, and communication, learning or social interactions.

Occupational Therapists at Flip for Function use evidence-based practice and highly skilled therapy interventions to facilitate the greatest level of independence and success in activities. We are guided by the desire to treat the underlying cause, not just the symptom, in order to create lasting change and equip your child with the skills necessary to succeed in whatever challenges life hands them. We help children develop necessary gross motor, fine motor, self-care, self-regulation, cognitive, and sensory skills so they can perform daily tasks more independently. In addition, we aim to increase self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment by meeting your child where they are and creating a “just right” challenge. We believe your child is unique with their own set of strengths and we use those to provide meaningful play and activity to promote maximum engagement.

Our Vision

Flip for Function serves our community of friends with special needs through therapy, movement, education and advocacy. Through evidence based practice of occupational therapy and gymnastics instruction, we help children develop confidence and skills for increased function and participation in all areas of their life, in a safe, inherently playful, supported environment.

We collaborate with our community and parents to better serve our children, using a strengths based and individualized approach. We pride ourselves on the ability to devote time and care to building relationships with you and your child so we may better serve your family. Our focus is not only on the child we are working with, but also to inform and empower you, the caregiver, to promote the most effective carry over.

We inspire our employees and gymnastics community by empowering them with the tools, knowledge and increased education to confidently serve our children with special needs.

Our Mission

Flip for Function aspires to be your home for therapeutic gymnastics instruction. We believe all children should have access to community based physical activity programs. That is why we not only use movement as a means and an end for your child, but we also aim to educate and advocate for our community of special needs friends. Flip for Function believes that when we educate even one person how to better serve our community, the effects spread like wildfire. We are striving to create a societal mind shift, one gymnastics community at a time.

We believe we are only as effective as our closest ally’s, which is why we value the collaborative relationship among other OT’s, Doctors, gymnastics instructors and gym club owners, caregivers and anyone else who serves our kiddos. When we work together, we can all better understand the value of movement and sensory benefits for children with special needs.
