Welcome to Flip for Function

What to know before your first visit

We're so glad you're here. Whatever brought you to us, whether it was a referral, a friend, or a long search for somewhere that would say yes, you found the right place. This is a gym built for your child. Not adapted for them, not squeezed in around a schedule meant for someone else. Built for them.

Here's what that means in practice: we start where your child is. We follow their lead. Some days that looks like a whole lot of progress and some days it looks like sitting on the mat getting comfortable, and both of those are the session working exactly as intended.

You don't have to prepare your child to be ready for us. We'll meet them wherever they walk in.

What to expect on your first visit

Finding us

500 Wilson Pike Circle, Suite 217 Brentwood, TN 37027

When you turn into the business center, keep going straight. You'll come to a fork with a sign in the median that says Phase II + III, with Results PT straight ahead of you.

Stay left, and we're up ahead on the right with a green awning.

When you pull up, you'll see our logo on the door.

Just inside there's a bench with cubbies underneath and hooks on the wall. Shoes go in a cubby, jackets and bags go on a hook. Bare feet or grip socks work best on our equipment, but if your child would rather keep their shoes on, that's okay. Orthotics and shoes are always welcome. We would rather your child feel comfortable than get the footwear exactly right.

Your coach will come meet you in the lobby. We don't have a front desk, so you don't need to check in anywhere or wait for someone to find you.

If your child needs a minute before heading in, that's completely fine. Some children walk straight onto the mats and some watch from the doorway for a while first. Both are a normal first day. The first session is mostly about getting comfortable.

Your coach will introduce themselves, show your child around, and follow their lead from there. We're not testing anyone or working through a checklist. We're figuring out what your child enjoys and what they're ready for.

You're welcome to stay and watch from the lobby. You can see into every part of the gym from there, so you won't lose sight of your child no matter where they end up. We also have windows all the way around the building, so if you'd rather step outside for fresh air, you can still see in.

What to wear and bring

Comfortable clothes your child can move in. Leggings, shorts, t-shirts, anything soft.

Nothing with buckles or stiff waistbands that will get in the way on the equipment.

Bring a water bottle.

If your child has a comfort item, a favorite toy, headphones, a chewy, anything that helps them regulate, bring it. It's welcome here and it doesn't need explaining.

Long hair is easier tied back, but it isn't a requirement.

If it's a hard day

Some first sessions don't look like what you pictured.

Your child might cry, refuse to go in, need to leave early, or spend the whole time watching from the edge of the mat.

That is not a failed session and it's not a sign this won't work.

We've seen every version of a first day.

A child who watches from the doorway this week may be running onto the mats in three weeks, and getting there is part of the work, not a delay before the work starts.

We won't push your child into something they're not ready for and we won't rush you out the door.

You don't need to apologize, explain, or manage our feelings about it. Just come back next week.

If there's something we should know about your child before they walk in, let us know.

A sensory sensitivity, a word they don't like, something that helps them transition, a thing that went badly somewhere else.

We would much rather know ahead of time than find out in the moment. There's no such thing as too much information here.

Things to print or share

Before Your First Visit— everything on this page in one printable handout, including directions into the business center.

Want to show your child the space first?

Some children do better walking in when they already know what they'll see. We made a picture story of our gym you can look through together beforehand, with real photos of the door, the cubbies, the equipment, and the quiet corners.

See the gym — short version — the basics in nine pages.

See the gym — full version — a walk through every piece of equipment, which helps if your child likes to know exactly what's coming.

There's no wrong way to use these. Read one straight through, look at a few pages the night before, or skip them entirely. Whatever helps.
